XMLHttpRequest issues
I have some cross-browser issues with a single piece of code. Basically, I am making a request to a static page using an XMLHttpRequest. Here is the code:
var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();
xhr.open("GET", "/Views/Products/Properties.aspx");
xhr.onreadystatechange = function() {
if (this.readyState == 4) {
if (this.status == 200) {
document.getElementById("Products").innerHTML = this.responseText;
}
}
}
xhr.send(null);
Basically, when the request reaches the onreadystatechange function, the code is finding no values in response. This is the current case, if response is:
[null]
Any thoughts as to why this is happening? I am also trying to determine how to find the value of data-id that it is sending in the response. I am pretty sure it is because response is always null, but I have no idea how to access it in javascript. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Try adding a second argument to open:
xhr.open("GET", "/Views/Products/Properties.aspx", false);
This will ensure that the request will not be sent automatically.
Also, be sure to have your script loaded after the HTML is loaded.
EDIT: Since this issue was caused by a different problem, the answer above should fix it. But if the code is being loaded from an older location and if the javascript is not being loaded by a later version of the page, then the code above will not fix the issue. In that case, you need to modify your HTML to load your script as the last script in the HTML file.
